Rotterdam, April 6, 2011 – Preschool readers throughout the world have delighted in Orange Books’ latest digital storybook “The Cat that Wouldn’t Move,” released March 25. Since its debut, the iPad app has been tremendously successful, becoming the most downloaded free app in Apple’s Dutch App Store. “The Cat that Wouldn’t Move” was offered for free in its first week on the App Store and is now available for €3.99. Developed by Momac (, a leading provider of mobile solutions, the fully illustrated children’s book app was created specifically for iPad users and features interactive pictures, finger swipe page turning as well as charming, rhyming text in three languages.
Narrated in English, Dutch and German, young readers can listen to the “The Cat that Wouldn’t Move” story mobile app or even read by themselves. Together with recited text, animated figures reveal further sights and sounds for readers to discover throughout the 12-page hand-illustrated tale.
Managing Director of Momac in the Netherlands, Joost Goeree says that the different visual and audio elements of the iPad mobile application take the picture book concept to a new level.
“Being able to seamlessly synchronise the animation with sound and text was key for this project,” he says. “In addition to a beautifully illustrated storybook, readers get to an enhanced dimension with touch engagement.”
“The Cat that Wouldn’t Move” was written and illustrated by Iris Boter and is the first of four children’s storybook apps being developed and built by Momac for Orange Books, a publisher of picture books for the iPad and other tablets.
